"Perfect!" exclaimed Pete as he gazed upon the house of his
dreams.
It was an old house that the previous owner had left because
he thought it had been possessed by a demon. It was only a
rumor, but Pete didn't believe in that kind of thing, so it was
of no concern to him.
"This house's previous owner left it for obvious
reasons...It's possessed!" joked the real-estate agent.
He had a big toothy smile that made Pete feel ill when he
looked at him. "Yea, right," Pete thought.
"This house is in very good condition considering its age.
It'll be sixty-four years old next month."
The real-estate agent switched into his selling mode now.
"It's also very cheap considering its size. Its only one hundred
and fifty-six thousand dollars," the real-estate agent said
cheerfully.
Pete wasn't afraid of the cost. After all, he was the owner
of Anime Incorporated (one of the world's largest Japanimation
dealers). "I'll take it!" Pete exclaimed in a semi-excited
voice.
It was the perfect house, large, black, almost a mansion in
proportion. In the front yard there were two skeleton trees
without leaves or many branches. The house had a small staircase
leading up to the porch. The stairs were gray from acid rain,
and the railings were partially green with mold. At the top of
the stairs were two stone Gargoyles. Neither seemed like they
had been touched by the world at all, because neither of them had
any scratches, chips, or mold on them. The one on the left side
looked as if it were made out of marble or some other shiny black
stone. The one on the right, however, was different. It looked
as if it was made from granite or even cement. The body
positioning was different as well. The Gargoyle on the left was
sitting with its talons between its legs and its wings pointed up
and then curved down with no facial expression. The Gargoyle on
the right was half standing up with its wings pointing down, its
arms in the air and a small smile on its face. Pete looked at
the two Gargoyles, smiled and thought, "This just keeps getting
better, and better!" No one really knew why Pete desired such a
creepy, decrepit old house. Perhaps he liked the house so much
because he didn't believe in superstition.
